Our Story

Founded in 1871, The Foundation of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia is the third oldest bar association in the United States. This voluntary association is dedicated to promoting civility, professionalism, and equal access to justice. Members engage in various volunteer committees, including the Young Lawyers Section and the Bankruptcy Section, contributing their skills to enhance the legal community.

Impact

The BADC Bankruptcy Access to Justice Project is committed to increasing access to legal representation for individuals of modest means facing bankruptcy. By providing free or reduced-fee legal services, this initiative promotes equal access to justice in the District of Columbia.
