Our Story

The Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) has been a beacon of hope since 1974, originally founded as Brooklyn Women’s Martial Arts. This organization has transformed into a nationally-recognized leader in violence prevention, focusing on the empowerment of women, LGBTQ individuals, and young people. CAE's educational programs are designed to center the experiences of marginalized communities, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in every initiative.

Impact

In 2021 alone, CAE served over 6,500 individuals across New York City and beyond, providing essential empowerment self-defense and upstander workshops that equip participants with the skills to prevent and heal from violence.
