Founded in 1984 by a group of 100 passionate women in Philadelphia, the Black Women's Health Alliance emerged from the First National Conference on Black Women's Health Issues. Recognizing the lack of representation for African-American women in healthcare discussions, these trailblazers established a platform to amplify their voices. In 2004, the organization was renamed to continue its mission of advocating for the health needs of African-American women and their families.
The Black Women's Health Alliance is dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes and eliminating health disparities faced by African American and minority women through education, research, and support services.
