Our Story

The Arc of Dauphin County, founded in 1953 by dedicated parents, emerged as a grassroots organization advocating for the rights and inclusion of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). At a time when institutionalization was the norm, these pioneers fought to keep their loved ones at home and integrated into family life. Over the decades, The Arc has evolved, expanding its services to meet the diverse needs of the community.
