Our Story
The American Portuguese Biomedical Research Fund was established in 1982 through the collaboration of philanthropist Ira Oppenheimer and medical researcher Dr. Maria de Sousa. This organization is dedicated to fostering biomedical research between the U.S. and Portugal, focusing on funding scholarships for young researchers and developing impactful research programs.
