The American Academic Research Institute in Iraq (TARII) was established in 1989 by a consortium of American universities, colleges, and museums. Its mission is to promote scholarly research in and on Iraq while facilitating exchanges between American and Iraqi scholars. Over the years, TARII has evolved, establishing a research center and library in Baghdad, and engaging in various projects aimed at preserving Iraqi cultural heritage.
