Our Story

The A.F. Dobler Hose and Ladder Company was established on March 1, 1900, named in honor of A.F. Dobler, who generously donated $200 for the first mechanized fire equipment—a hand-pulled hose cart. Initially located on Wall Street, the company moved to the old Girard power house on Mechanic Street in 1921. By 1950, the department had expanded to include two engines, an ambulance, a rescue truck, and a brush truck. In December 2010, a new fire station was built on Walnut Street to accommodate the growing needs of the community.
