Our Story

Founded in 1994 by Sam Schacht, Michelle Bouchard, and James DeMarse, The Workshop Theater Company began as a collective for theater artists to share and develop new plays. With a commitment to fostering creativity, the organization secured a location on 42nd Street, where it offered staged readings and modest productions. Achieving not-for-profit status in 1997, The Workshop Theater has since evolved, moving to a new location in 2002 while continuing its mission to produce innovative theatrical works.

Impact

Today, plays initiated at The Workshop Theater are celebrated nationwide and internationally, with notable successes including the acclaimed film 'Finding Neverland'.
