THC Affordable Housing Inc
EIN: 20-3149168 · Washington, DC
Our Story
Founded in 1990, Housing Up began as Transitional Housing Corporation, born from a generous bequest that inspired volunteers from Christ Lutheran Church, Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, and Community Family Life Services to take action. The first step was acquiring an apartment building on Georgia Ave and Kennedy St NW, which provided transitional housing for 14 families. Over the years, Housing Up has evolved, now serving over 500 families through various housing programs across the District. In 2016, the organization rebranded to Housing Up, reflecting a commitment to permanent affordable housing solutions and a broader mission to uplift families experiencing homelessness.
Our Impact
Since its inception, Housing Up has been dedicated to serving Washington, D.C.'s most vulnerable families. By providing stable housing and essential opportunities, the organization empowers families to break the cycle of generational poverty. In 2022, an impressive 98% of families maintained stable housing, and 1,446 children benefited from our programs.
