Our Story
The Texas School District Police Chiefs Association was founded in 1996 by a group of dedicated school district police chiefs in Houston. Initially gathering for informal luncheons to discuss shared concerns, the group recognized the need for a more structured approach to address the unique challenges faced by school district police departments. In 1997, the Southeast Texas School District Police Chiefs Association was formed, focusing on the professionalization of school district policing.
In 1998, the Association held its first annual training conference at the Aldine School District in Harris County, attracting over 100 participants from across Texas. This successful event laid the groundwork for an ongoing commitment to training and development, leading to the Association's name change in 2001 to the Texas School District Police Chiefs Association, reflecting its mission to standardize school district policing statewide.
