Our Story

The Texas Marathon was founded in 2000 by Rick Worley, who aimed to set a Guinness World Record for the most marathons run on consecutive weekends. After completing 200 marathons in 159 weeks, he sought a New Year's Day marathon and, unable to find one, organized the 'Jammin' in January' marathon. This event has become a cherished tradition, held every New Year's Day since. Tragically, Rick passed away in a traffic accident in 2010, but his legacy lives on. In 2023, the Knights of Columbus took over the race, continuing the mission to support children's charities.

Impact

With a focus on mobility, the Texas Marathon connects runners' dreams with the dreams of disabled children needing wheelchairs. Each race not only provides warmth for less fortunate children on cold New Year's Days but also creates opportunities for orphans worldwide.
