Our Story
The Texas Marathon was founded in 2000 by Rick Worley, who aimed to set a Guinness World Record for the most marathons run on consecutive weekends. After completing 200 marathons in 159 weeks, he sought a New Year's Day marathon and, unable to find one, organized the 'Jammin' in January' marathon. This event has become a cherished tradition, held every New Year's Day since. Tragically, Rick passed away in a traffic accident in 2010, but his legacy lives on. In 2023, the Knights of Columbus took over the race, continuing the mission to support children's charities.
