Founded by Twin Cities businessman Fred Wells, the Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center, affectionately known as The Fort, opened its doors in 2002 with a mission to inspire youth from under-resourced communities. By providing affordable access to tennis and life skills development, The Fort breaks down barriers and fosters a supportive environment where young people can thrive both on and off the court.

With a commitment to safety, respect, commitment, integrity, and kindness, The Fort has created a nurturing space for youth development. An impressive 98.5% of students report having fun and feeling supported by trusted adults in our programs, while 85% identify as tennis players by the end of their sessions.
