Our Story

Tennessee Local Food is dedicated to supporting local farmers by providing educational workshops on sustainable business and production practices. Founded by Jeff Poppen, the organization emerged in response to the challenges faced by local agriculture, particularly after an industrial chicken house was built next to his organic farm. Over the years, it has evolved from a volunteer-run event into a vital organization that collaborates with various stakeholders to strengthen the local food system in Tennessee.

Through its initiatives, Tennessee Local Food has successfully facilitated the growth of the local food movement, influenced local policy, and supported farmers, including raising $19,000 for those affected by storm damage.
