Founded in 2004 by Kathy Harms, Teen Empower understands the unique challenges faced by teen parents, having experienced them firsthand. The organization began with a mission to educate teens, enabling them to lead healthier and happier lives. In 2008, the introduction of the L.I.M.I.T.S. program marked a significant step forward, empowering teens to take an active role in education. This initiative has evolved into the SHAPE program, which trains high school students to educate middle schoolers about social pressures, media influence, and assertiveness skills. With the guidance of dedicated staff educators, these Peer Educators foster discussions that cultivate leadership and awareness among youth.
