In 1987, a mother named DeeDee Stephens recognized the struggles faced by high school students overwhelmed by negative peer pressure. This realization sparked the creation of the Teen Advisor program, which aimed to transform the lives of students by promoting positive role models. The initiative began with just four dedicated teens who committed to abstaining from drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, and it quickly grew into a powerful movement.

From Local Initiative to National Impact

As the Teen Advisor program expanded, it gained national attention, including recognition from President George H. W. Bush, who awarded it a "Thousand Points of Light" award. The program's success led to the development of additional initiatives, such as the Velocity program for middle school students and the Ignite program for elementary schools. These programs have collectively empowered thousands of students to make positive choices and resist negative influences.

Innovative Approaches to Student Engagement

In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Teen Advisors, Inc. launched innovative project teams, including SERVE, Podcast, and Virtual CRS, to maintain engagement with students during a time of limited in-person interaction. The organization continues to adapt and grow, ensuring that support is available to students at every educational level.
