Tedford Housing
EIN: 01-0422035 · Brunswick, ME
Our Story
Tedford Housing, originally known as Tedford Shelter, was established in 1987 by the Brunswick Area Interfaith Council (BAIC) to provide emergency shelter for homeless adults in the Brunswick, Maine area. Named after the generous donor of the original shelter building, Tedford has evolved significantly over the years. In 1998, a family shelter was opened on Federal Street, and in the early 2000s, homeless prevention services were introduced to assist those at risk of losing their homes.
From 2008 to 2019, Tedford Housing served homeless students through the Merrymeeting Project, and between 2005 and 2012, 37 supportive housing units were added for previously homeless individuals and families. Central to all programs is case management, ensuring clients have access to essential health, human, and community services to address their housing emergencies.
Our Impact
Today, Tedford Housing serves more individuals in the community through outreach than in its facilities, becoming a vital resource center for homeless and at-risk neighbors.
