In 2002, Tony McEachern faced a life-altering challenge while competing in the Raid Gauloises in Vietnam, a grueling 621-mile endurance race. Just a year later, he was diagnosed with a Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma and given a mere two years to live. Instead of succumbing to despair, Tony fought back with the same determination he displayed during the race. His journey through five neurosurgeries, two years of radiation, and four years of chemotherapy was marked by resilience and an unwavering spirit.

Despite the physical toll of his treatments, including the loss of hair and peripheral vision, Tony emerged as a beacon of hope. He attributes much of his survival to the exceptional care he received at The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, but he also recognizes the invaluable support from family, friends, and fellow cancer survivors. This realization inspired him to establish the Team Tony Cancer Foundation, a platform dedicated to connecting cancer fighters with survivors who can offer guidance and support.
