About Operation Walk

Operation Walk was founded in 1995 by Dr. Lawrence D. Dorr, a leading joint replacement surgeon in Los Angeles, California. The initiative began during a teaching trip to Russia, where Dr. Dorr recognized the importance of demonstrating surgical techniques to educate local physicians. This led to the first Operation Walk mission in Havana, Cuba, where a dedicated team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and physical therapists provided essential care.

Global Impact

Since its inception, Operation Walk has expanded to 13 centers across the United States and has performed thousands of free joint replacements for patients suffering from debilitating bone and joint conditions. The organization not only provides surgeries but also educates local healthcare professionals in advanced treatment techniques, ensuring a lasting impact on patient care in developing countries.
