Our Story

After a transformative volunteer trip to Rwanda, Ceeya Patton Bolman, along with her husband Chip, a heart surgeon, and a dedicated team of ICU nurses from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, founded Team Heart in 2009. What started as a single mission to help has evolved into a lifelong commitment to developing sustainable cardiac care in Rwanda. The organization focuses on prevention, education, and early intervention for rheumatic heart disease (RHD), ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the life-saving care they need.

Team Heart is dedicated to transforming Rwanda into a self-sustaining cardiac care center. Through surgical interventions and educational initiatives, the organization addresses the critical burden of cardiac disease, saving countless lives and improving health outcomes across the nation.
