Our Story

Founded in 2004 by Matthew Hathaway, Teachers in the Parks (TIPS) began as a small initiative to help students with math and science in local parks. Over the years, it has transformed into a structured program that addresses the summer learning gap for students in grades 3-6. By offering engaging, teacher-led activities in community spaces, TIPS makes education accessible to families without the burden of traditional school costs.

Our Impact

TIPS aims to combat summer learning loss, especially for children in poverty, by providing high-quality educational experiences in natural environments. Hundreds of families have benefited from the program, which has expanded its reach across Pennsylvania, helping students transition between grade levels with confidence.
