Our Story

The Tarahumara Children's Hospital Fund was established to uplift the Tarahumara people, who endure extreme poverty in Mexico's Copper Canyon. Founded by Father Verplancken in the early 1960s, this organization has dedicated itself to providing essential health care, education, and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Tarahumara. Under the leadership of Fr. Enrique Mireles, S.J., the mission has expanded to include vital projects that enhance living conditions, such as health clinics, a boarding school, and clean water initiatives.

Impact

Significant strides have been made in improving the health and well-being of the Tarahumara people. Through essential services like health care, education, and clean water access, the Tarahumara Children's Hospital Fund is transforming lives. Projects like the Water for Life initiative ensure sustainable access to clean drinking water, which is crucial for the community's survival.
