Our Story

The Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship, established in 2002 by Marin Alsop, aims to mentor and promote women conductors in the classical music industry. After facing gender discrimination, Alsop created this fellowship to provide aspiring female conductors with the necessary tools to succeed. Renamed in 2019 to honor its founder, the fellowship continues to break barriers and foster talent.

Impact

Over the past 20 years, the fellowship has empowered 36 women conductors, many of whom now hold prestigious positions in orchestras worldwide. These talented individuals are committed to creating a more equitable future for classical music through their artistry and advocacy.
