Nine years ago, Wendy Montealegre recognized the dire dog over-population crisis in Alabama. With countless dogs dying in shelters and abandoned on the streets, she began her rescue work. In 2020, Tails From Alabama was officially established, alongside rescue partner Tara Ivey Kennedy, to save Alabama’s dogs by fostering, vetting, and transporting them to Rescue Charlie’s Friends in Maine.
Since its founding, Tails From Alabama has rescued over 2,000 dogs and puppies, placing them in loving homes across Maine.
