Our Story

Founded in 2013 by Karin Hemphill, M.Ed, MA, Tail Wags & Book Bags was inspired by her son Tucker's struggles with profound dyslexia. This organization provides highly trained assistance dogs and educators to schools, transforming the educational experience for students with learning differences.

Impact

Research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) shows that the presence of assistance dogs in classrooms promotes positive mood and reduces anxiety and depression. An impressive 97% of teachers and therapists believe that students benefit from increased participation with assistance dogs provided by Tail Wags & Book Bags.
