The Taia Peace Foundation was established in 2007 as the rural development arm of Taia Lion Resources, a socially responsible mineral exploration company in Sierra Leone. The foundation's mission is to assist rural African communities in overcoming the 'resource curse' by promoting economic development in resource-rich areas that often suffer from instability and social tension.
