Founded in 1990, Tacoma Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the unique history of Tacoma. The organization began with community forums and publications, and in 1993, it launched the Historic Homes of Tacoma Tour, which has become a beloved community event. In 2011, the Society took a significant step by digitizing its collection of artifacts, documents, and photos. The opening of the museum in the historic Provident Building in March 2014 marked the realization of a long-held vision, providing a stable environment for collections and enhancing community access to exhibits.
