Transforming Hospital Stays for Children

Born from a personal journey through the challenges of congenital heart defects, Tabby's Toys is dedicated to brightening the lives of children facing extended hospital stays. After undergoing five open-heart surgeries, the founder experienced firsthand the isolation and boredom that can accompany long hospital visits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when play areas were closed, a simple act of kindness from a nurse—offering a choice of toys—sparked the idea for this nonprofit. It became clear that children, especially older ones, needed access to engaging games and toys to help them cope with their circumstances.

Our Mission

Tabby's Toys aims to provide children with appropriate and engaging toys and games that they can keep, ensuring that every child has something to play with during their recovery. Collaborating with the NYP Child Life team at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the organization has developed “Comfort Kits” filled with toys and games tailored to the needs of children in hospitals.
