Our Story

The Syracuse Area Landmark Theatre, established in 1975, is dedicated to acquiring and preserving the historic Loew's State Theatre in Syracuse, NY. With a rich history dating back to 1928, the theatre has experienced various phases of decline and revival, particularly during the 1970s when community efforts saved it from demolition. Today, SALT continues to restore the theatre and host a variety of performances and events, supported by a strong community and volunteer base.

Impact

The Landmark Theatre has successfully preserved a significant piece of Central New York's cultural heritage, providing a venue for numerous performances and events that enrich the community. It has become a hub for arts and entertainment, attracting both local and national acts, and fostering community engagement through volunteerism and support.
