Our Story

Sylvia’s Sisters began with a friendship between two women separated by over 7,000 miles. Founded in 2014 by Jennifer Taylor in Chesterfield, Virginia, this all-volunteer organization is named after Sylvia Namukasa, an environmentalist in Kirinda, Uganda. The mission is to combat period poverty, ensuring that menstruators have access to reusable period products.

Impact

To date, Sylvia's Sisters has distributed over 1,100,000 period products in Virginia and 11,200 reusable pads in Uganda. This initiative has significantly improved the ability of girls and women to attend school and work without interruption.

Why Donate?

Your donations empower Sylvia's Sisters to provide quality period products to those in need. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps ensure that menstruators do not miss school or work due to a lack of supplies.
