Our Story

The Switzerland County Public Library, established in 1915, has deep roots in local literary societies that contributed the first books. It became Indiana's first countywide library system in 1917, thanks to funding from the Carnegie Corporation, leading to the opening of a new building in 1919. The library relocated in 1992, supported by the Vevay/Switzerland Foundation.
