Our Story

The Swim With Mike Foundation was established in 1981 after competitive swimmer Mike Nyeholt faced life-altering challenges following a motorcycle accident. His friend Ron Orr mobilized the swimming community to support Mike's rehabilitation, leading to the inaugural Swim For Mike event. This initiative sparked the creation of scholarships for physically challenged athletes, enabling them to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.

Impact

Since its inception, the foundation has awarded over $30 million in scholarships to 310 recipients across 157 universities in 47 states. This support fosters a community of hope and resilience for physically challenged athletes, empowering them to overcome adversity.
