Our Story

Founded in 2013, the Swell Collective emerged from the global Black Lives Matter movement, ignited by the tragic murder of Trayvon Martin. This pivotal moment highlighted the urgent need for dialogue around differences and the tensions that arise from our diverse identities. As the political landscape shifted during the 2016 election and beyond, the Swell Collective was conceived as a response to these challenges, aiming to amplify positive-sum practices that foster understanding and collaboration.

Our Mission

With a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status granted in January 2017, the Swell Collective is dedicated to inspiring, equipping, and amplifying change-agents from historically marginalized communities. By curating and broadcasting stories of success at the intersection of differences, the organization empowers individuals to become mindful practitioners of positive-sum practices.
