Our Story
In the late 1890s, local Catholic physicians recognized the urgent need for a Catholic hospital to serve the growing European immigrant population in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Daughters of Charity conducted a thorough needs assessment and determined that a second hospital was essential. Thus, St. Vincent's Hospital opened its doors on June 28, 1905, dedicated to serving the sick and poor of the community.
