Our Story
Sustainable Harvest International was founded in 1997 by Florence Reed, who witnessed the devastating effects of slash-and-burn agriculture during her time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama. This inspired the development of a multi-year program aimed at training farmers in regenerative techniques, allowing them to provide for their families while protecting the environment. Since then, the organization has expanded its reach across multiple Central American countries, working with thousands of families to restore ecosystems and improve livelihoods.
