Our Story
Sustainable Food Center (SFC) has been a beacon of hope for food access in Texas since its inception in 1993, evolving from the Austin Community Gardens established in 1975. By merging these two organizations in 2001, SFC has strengthened its programming and advocacy efforts, ensuring that local farmers and families have the resources they need to thrive.
Our Impact
For nearly 50 years, SFC has worked tirelessly to enhance food security through innovative programs like Double Up Food Bucks Texas and The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre, which provide essential cooking and nutrition education.
