Our Story

The Sustainable Economies Law Center (SELC) was founded in 2009 to address the legal challenges faced by those striving to create resilient and inclusive local economies. By providing essential legal tools, SELC empowers communities to embrace innovative economic strategies such as cooperatives, community currencies, and urban agriculture.

Impact

SELC has significantly contributed to community economic prosperity by removing legal barriers and creating supportive legal structures. Since 2018, the organization has administered over $9 million for fiscally sponsored projects, demonstrating its commitment to fostering localized production and democratic job creation.
