DC SAFE

Our Story

Survivors and Advocates for Empowerment SAFE Inc, known as DC SAFE, began its journey in 1997 as a project of the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Initially, a small team of advocates provided essential court-based services. By 2006, DC SAFE became an independent nonprofit organization, expanding its mission to develop comprehensive crisis intervention services. This survivor-defined advocacy model empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their lives, recognizing them as the true experts of their experiences.
