Founded in 2005 with the support of a Mission and Ministry grant from Catholic Health Initiatives, Surgery on Sunday is dedicated to providing medically necessary outpatient surgeries at no cost to income-eligible, uninsured, or underinsured individuals. Partnering with the Lexington Surgery Center, this nonprofit organization operates with a remarkable team of nearly 300 volunteers, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and administrative personnel.

Making a Significant Impact

Since its inception, Surgery on Sunday has successfully completed nearly 6,000 surgeries, with volunteers contributing over 100,000 hours of service. Each surgery, averaging $1,500 in cost, is made possible through the generosity of private donors and fundraising efforts.
