Our Story
In the late 1940s, a compassionate group recognized the urgent need to support the physically challenged in the community. This initiative blossomed into the Sunshine Center of Indian River County, established in 1953. With a generous donation from W. C. Graves, Jr., the Center found its first home on 17th Avenue. By 1959, the focus shifted towards physical therapy and rehabilitation, leading to the renaming of the organization to The Sunshine Rehabilitation Center of Indian River County, Inc.
In 1979, the Board of Directors decided to emphasize primary services, adopting the operational title of Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic. A new facility was constructed, and in 1981, the Clinic moved to its current location. The expansion continued in 1994 with the addition of a gym and fitness area, enhancing the services offered to the community.
As a Medicare-approved facility, the Clinic now operates independently, relying on fees for services, donations, and endowments. The dedicated staff regularly conducts seminars on health-related topics, empowering the community with knowledge on preventing injuries and managing chronic conditions.
