Our Story

Sunrise Outreach Center is a beacon of hope in the Yakima Valley, where the diversity of our communities is celebrated. Founded by Dave Hanson and his wife, the center emerged from a heartfelt calling to serve those in need. After relocating to a neighborhood plagued by challenges, they took action by transforming their surroundings—painting homes, planting gardens, and engaging with local families. This grassroots effort blossomed into a dedicated outreach initiative, officially incorporated in February 2009.

Impacting Lives

Over the past 11 years, Sunrise Outreach Center has expanded its reach to include Yakima, Wapato, Sunnyside, Mabton, White Swan, and Wiley City. With the support of hundreds of volunteers, the center has become a vital resource for families facing food insecurity and homelessness.
