Our Story

For nearly 40 years, Sunburst Projects has been a beacon of hope for the Northern California HIV/AIDS community and their families. What began as a summer camp for children with cancer quickly transformed to address the urgent needs of children diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. In 1988, Camp Sunburst pioneered the nation’s first therapeutically designed summer camp program for children living with HIV and their families. Incorporated in 1990 as a 501(c)(3) organization, Sunburst Projects has continually evolved to meet the needs of those impacted by HIV/AIDS. In 2020, the organization expanded its reach to include men and the greater Sacramento HIV community, providing vital support to thousands of individuals and families.
