Our Story
The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad was established in 1962 by two dedicated women from the Junior League, Sis Barker and Betty Bangs. Their vision was to deliver essential emergency medical services to the Summit community. Starting with a single, donated ambulance from Overlook Hospital, the squad has evolved into a robust organization with over 90 active volunteers. Today, it responds to more than 2,300 emergency calls each year, showcasing a deep commitment to community health and safety.
