Our Story
In 1968, a series of tragic suicides in Ithaca ignited a community response, leading to the establishment of a 24-hour crisis service. Reverend Jack Lewis answered the first call in 1969, providing hope to a young person in despair. Today, Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services (SPCS) operates as a vital resource, answering calls from 17 counties across New York State through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and our local crisis line, 607.272.1616. Available 24/7, SPCS is committed to saving lives and fostering hope.
