Our Story

Founded in 1970 by a group of dedicated doctors and community stakeholders, the Memphis Crisis Center emerged in response to a tragic suicide. Initially starting as the first 24-hour volunteer-powered hotline, known as the Suicide Prevention Service, it has evolved to address a broader spectrum of mental health and crisis issues. Despite facing challenges, including a closure in 2009, the center has remained a vital resource, offering help and hope to those in need.

Impact

Each year, the Memphis Crisis Center serves over 25,000 individuals, providing essential support during their darkest moments. This organization has become a beacon of hope for countless Mid-Southerners.
