Our Story

The Sugar Land Heritage Foundation was established in response to the closure of the Imperial Sugar refinery in 2003, a landmark that had been part of the community since the mid-1800s. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization in March 2008, the foundation is dedicated to researching, collecting, preserving, and sharing the history and culture of Sugar Land.

Our Impact

Through its efforts, the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation has successfully preserved a vast collection of historical artifacts, documents, and photographs. These resources trace the evolution of Sugar Land from its early plantation days to its current status as a vibrant city, ensuring that the community's history remains accessible to future generations.
