About Sturgeon’s Mill

Founded in 1914, Sturgeon’s Mill was a vital lumber source for western Sonoma County until its closure in 1964. After decades of dormancy, passionate history enthusiasts revived the mill, transforming it into a working museum that showcases the operations of a steam-powered sawmill from the early 20th century.

Impact of the Restoration

The Sturgeon’s Mill Restoration Project has successfully restored a century-old steam-powered sawmill, offering educational opportunities for students and the public to explore early 20th-century technology and work ethics. Over 60 dedicated volunteers help ensure the mill's legacy continues.
