Our Story
Study Japanese in Arlington Inc, originally founded as Save Japanese in Arlington in May 2018, emerged in response to the Arlington Public School System's decision to eliminate the Japanese language program. Through a passionate student-led grassroots campaign, SJA successfully reinstated the program across all high schools in the county. As of 2021, approximately 100 students are enrolled in Japanese classes at three high schools within the Arlington Public Schools system. This organization, now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, continues to foster a love for the Japanese language and culture in the DC area.
