Our Story
In 2009, Wiley Middle School registrar Karen Faulkner discovered that many children in her school were going without food on weekends. Starting with just a handful of students, she initiated a program to send food home in backpacks. This small act of kindness has grown into a district-wide initiative through Student Charities, providing essential nourishment to children in need. Since its inception, over 81,000 bags of food have been sent home across Leander Independent School District (LISD), allowing students to enjoy their time away from school without the worry of hunger.
