Our Story

Founded in October 1963, Strive, Inc. has been dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to thrive. Originally known as the Sophie Gumbel Guild, the organization rebranded in 1996 to reflect its mission of unlocking the boundless potential within every individual. Located in the historic Uptown New Orleans district, Strive serves 100 adult clients aged 19 and older through diverse programs that include job training, supported employment, and recreational activities.
