Our Story

Founded in August 2003, Street Sense Media began with a vision to create a street newspaper in Washington, D.C. Two dedicated volunteers approached the National Coalition for the Homeless, leading to the publication of the first issue in November 2003. Since then, the organization has expanded its media offerings to include journalism, film, theater, and more, all aimed at providing economic opportunities for people experiencing homelessness.
